Calf management

Lifetime productivity starts when the calf is born
The better start in life you give your calves, the more likely they are to grow into healthy, productive and profitable assets. The future success of your dairy farm depends on the success of your calf management program.
Of course, it’s not quite that simple. There will be health, feeding and productivity challenges through a dairy cow’s lifecycle – but the period before birth to their first six months of life presents the greatest challenges.
Heavier and well-developed heifers are generally easier to get pregnant, produce more milk during their first lactations, and live longer lives.
